Formal Bio:

Aileen Zhong serves as the Policy and Programs Associate for The Campaign for College Opportunity’s Sacramento Office. She grew up in the Bay Area with her mother and brother where she experienced financial difficulties.  Her mother inculcated the importance of a college degree and the success that it would bring at a very young age.

Volunteering and engaging with advocacy groups fueled her passion for education equity. She maintained this passion while studying at De Anza Community College by actively participating in social justice research, prior to transferring to UC Davis.

At UC Davis she double majored in Political Science and Sociology. While in school, she worked for HealthCorps as the public relations and community outreach intern, and learned in depth about the California education climate. She saw first hand how students were affected by the quality of education received and the lack of access to a college degree.

Ms. Zhong is an adamant believer that many of the socioeconomic issues experienced in California can be resolved through improvements in the education system. She shares the Campaign’s mission and is committed to change.
