Matthew believes that the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) simplification is not only necessary but also vital given the political climate we are witnessing today. His fight for simplification comes from seeing how the current application brings so much uncertainty for first-generation college students whose parents have never had to complete a complicated form like the FAFSA. Financial aid is instrumental in determining where many students attend college and if their families can support their pursuit of a higher education; the process should be simplified and efficient to maximize the amount of aid they receive. He believes that no student who has demonstrated academic promise and rigor should be denied the opportunity to advance their educational pursuits on the basis on our flawed financial aid process.
