Your role in one sentence: I provide administrative and policy support to further The Campaign’s state and federal policy agenda.

When I am not at work helping students get to and succeed in college I am…travelling, reading a good book, and re-watching The Office as often as I can.

If not higher education then what cause? Environmental policy reform

Formal Bio:

Zaeema Ejaz was born in Pakistan and moved to the United States with her family at age three. Her childhood memories are marked with the same struggles so many immigrants’ families face: the language barriers, the lack of economic opportunities, and the personal isolation one often feels when thrown into an unknown environment. However, she also felt a deeply rooted sense of pride and ambition born from bearing witness to the long and arduous minimum wage jobs her parents worked seven days a week.

As a first-generation college student, it is that pride that drives her to pursue dreams and opportunities beyond anything her parents could have imagined for themselves. Zaeema is majoring in Political Science at UC Davis and is involved in on and off campus focus groups seeking to provide safe and motivated working environments for higher ed students. Having been in student government and leadership positions since high school, she understands the need for policy reform to further the cause of higher education on a systemic level.
