Crafton Hills College

Jazmyn Garcia is a first-generation, nontraditional student studying biology, chemistry, and psychology at Crafton Hills College.

Having navigated homelessness, poverty, and systemic barriers on her journey to higher education, she understands firsthand the transformative power of education and the importance of making it accessible to all. Her experiences have shaped a deep commitment to educational equity, student advocacy, and uplifting underserved communities. As a Student Trustee and community advocate, Jazmyn works to bridge the gap between students and the institutions meant to serve them. She is particularly passionate about addressing basic needs insecurity, expanding educational opportunities, and empowering students to advocate for themselves and their communities. For Jazmyn, leadership is rooted in empathy, service, equity, and dignity. She hopes to pursue a career in academia while continuing to advocate for a more compassionate future. Jazmyn believes every California student deserves affordable housing and that college should never be reserved for an elite few. She wants more students to become civically engaged.
