Jonmathew Caballero Hernandez

Jonmathew Caballero Hernandez is a double major in Government and Religious Studies at Claremont McKenna College, graduating in 2029.

Growing up in Culver City, he decided to pursue college after watching his father work 13-hour days as a landscaper in the California heat. As a Mexican American, first-generation student with dyslexia, Jonmathew was told he would not make it far in school; his admission to CMC proved otherwise. He maps his degree requirements on his own and now mentors other students on the same path. Jonmathew wants policymakers to know that getting into college is only the beginning, and that first-generation students need support all the way to graduation.
