Kylie Cole
Kylie Cole is an Africana Studies major with a Labor Studies minor at California State University, Dominguez Hills, graduating in 2027.
Though she spent half her life in Los Angeles, Kylie also grew up in Victorville, Lancaster, Rosamond and Georgia before settling in Long Beach a couple of years ago. Moving more often than her peers taught her to adapt quickly to new schools and communities, and she hopes her story resonates with any student who grew up starting over. A Black American, first-generation college student, Kylie has balanced work-study and off-campus jobs throughout college, an experience she says taught her grit, grace and gratitude. Her work at the campus Black Resource Center has connected her with a wide range of people and perspectives. Kylie believes every California student deserves to feel seen, heard and represented, and she wants more students to take labor studies courses to understand the systems that shape their lives.
